the goods: my life in lyrics

my pandora radio station for rihanna played this song a little while ago. loved the Grammy performance of "part 2" and "I need a doctor." i have been listening to this song more than usual lately.

the goods: FRS

when I started this challenge, I knew food would probably be my #1 most appreciated item of this month. let's throw in a drink for good measure.

orange isn't too bad either.

the goods: when old words become new

what do you want to bet that in a few years' time the "PC" version will be "nanos" instead of midgets?

the goods: spring flowers

spring time must be coming. and it makes the grocery store smell amazing. and it makes me wish I was responsible enough to care for something so pretty.

the goods: solitude

today, I appreciated a short moment of my job where I reflected on my own situation and concluded I'm really a lucky person.

to pander to HIPAA, I will call the lady with the 8-packs-a-day rasp Nancy. Nancy is perpetually stoned and has trouble speaking and breathing at the same time. today, we added counting money to her long list of greats feats to overcome. Nancy struggled to sign for her prescription and the other highly repetitive steps that one goes through to obtain meds. I told her that her total prescription and OTC items amounted to $15.02, or "fifteen oh two."

her shallow eyes moved their empty glance to her fanny pack, and she unzipped her small coin purse. she dragged her fingers through the change and plopped two pennies on the counter. she then continued rummaging and dropped a nickel and then two other nickels on the counter and slid them over to me.

I waited. she waited. her facial expression demanded, "WTF, take my money."

"it's 15 dollars. and two cents."

"that's what I gave you."

I stared at her.

"that's 17 cents."

Nancy stared back at me. "no. oh." silence. "oh." and then she went to her fanny pack to draw out a twenty dollar bill. because apparently, you have to be really effing stoned to try to pass off fifteen plus two cents to your cunning pharmacy tech.

even on my worst days, I'm pretty sure I remember that red means stop and green means go and you should never trust a stranger.

so I'm home now, about to enjoy a glass of passion fruit rum and an action movie and relish the lack of outside stupidity encroaching on my space.

the goods: car milestones

hey, she made it to 81k!

the goods: lip tint

no matter how I'm feeling on the inside (like waking up to snow covering my car! in march! fack!), a dab of lipstick or lip tint (big fan of covergirl's outlast sticks) makes me feel oodles better.

the goods: snacks

on Sunday, I worked with one of my favorite pharmacists-- and due to a sick twist of fate, I only see her every couple of weeks. so for our 8 hour workday aka "the Asians take over the pharmacy and don't even give free massages" day, we decided to bring some snacks to make the day even better.

I made a pizza dip with cream cheese, pizza sauce, cheese, and pizza toppings. the pharmacist brought a nice greens salad and crusty bread for dipping-- and she brought white chocolate chip cranberry cookies for dessert. so yummy.

I love days at work when I'm reminded of the awesome people I work with.

the goods: reunion with carbs

after denying myself carbs for weeks last year, I've slowly reintroduced myself to eating pasta without feeling guilty and punishing myself with a strict calorie intake for days after. for example, I ate nachos last night so this morning I only ate 1 egg for breakfast and a piece of turkey and yogurt for lunch. the self-inflicted torture must stop!

tonight, I made a bowtie pasta with garlic, onions, red pepper flakes, Italian seasoning, adele's Italian chicken sausage, white beans, and mushrooms. it might look a little strange, but the mix of flavorful foods guaranteed I didn't consume more than a cup's worth.

hello, pasta. I missed you.
