summer day 10

the Hollywood Video in eagle is closing. this is where I worked for $5.50/hr in high school (and part of my first year in college) and where I spent the majority of my nights and weekends. where there used to be tables of perfectly shrink-wrapped previously-viewed movies (I got mad skills...) and lines of anxious teenagers, there is emptiness and discount signs. nostaglic is not the right word--but it's close.

summer day 9

I have been Internet-less for officially one month now, and this is pretty much how the fourth love of my life exists nowadays.

summer day 8

Today I missed the 100 degree afternoon and the evening thunderstorm because of work, but this is my small attempt at capturing the stormy night sky for you. if you could only smell the asphalt here at alby's.

16 June 2010

picture blog.

a few events recently transpired that have inspired me to try a photo blog:

1.  a blog reader of mine mentioned wanting to start a "photo a day" blog after being somewhat interested in my daily journal-of-sorts throughout may.

2.  a facebook friend started uploading photos to http://www.365project.org/ which encourages users to post a picture a day on their public site.

3.  my cousins use hipstamatic for iphone which creates analog-ish looking photos using different lenses, flashes, and film.

4.  i'm-- once again-- bored.

i really enjoyed unloading my thoughts each day last month; i had both purpose and audience and plenty of writing material, and i even downloaded an iphone app so i could post from home on days that i didn't feel like going to the public library (or if time restraints got in the way with posting).  i don't care to open yet another social technology page (like tumblr or 365project), and i can upload photos (maybe some taken with the hipstamatic app? i haven't taken the plunge into buying it yet...) right from my phone.

so why not?

92 days of summer. in photos.

coming soon.

each friend asks me to be me in different ways-- sharing my day-to-day life, or delving into why i think failure is the overarching theme of my life, or trying out new restaurants, or talking for hours at starbuck's about the pressures of the present.  the diversity of my friends mirrors my own personality that tends to fragment and divide.  however, i know that i am not alone, no matter how independent i try to act.
